Let us return for a moment to the focus of our article, that is, which are the most original escape rooms. We have recently seen which was the ‘world’s largest escape room’, and the scariest one, but we had not yet analyzed the stories within the rooms.

The most original escape rooms that we present are in no way in order of importance, but purely random. Let’s start this list!
1. Impossible Escape – The Cycle of Bartezzagus: One of the most original escape rooms is located in Bologna and its players are locked up in the office of Dr. Bartezzagus. You will then have to solve quizzes and puzzles to open different doors and manage to get out of the study. The originality of this room is due to the creative cue of the authors of this escape room who based the whole narrative on Piero Bartezzagni. Don’t know who he is? Well, he is one of the most famous Italian riddlers who has collaborated for forty years with The Puzzle Week, which I imagine most of us Italians have right there, yes you got it, in the bathroom!
2. Ricoletti Family: Another one of these original escape rooms is located in Treviso and is part of the escape room evolution group. Here, you will be catapulted to 1856 and impersonate the servant of this important family. Its originality comes from the fact that it is divided into narrative chapters that intertwine with each other and in the perfectly reconstructed setting of the 1800s. The story begins with the poisoning of the lady and mistress of the house, Corelia Richetti and it is the servant girl that you impersonate who is to blame. Obviously, you must manage to get out of the room to find the real culprit.
3. International Intrigue: This escape room is really beautiful and even boasts six possible endings based on the team’s skills. The story takes you to 1989 on the border between Italy and the State of San Marino where there is a feud that could involve the whole world. You were on the border of these two states and were kidnapped and locked in a room. Now, you have to get out while still gathering evidence to foil this horrible plan that involves the slaughter of numerous people. So, if you succeed in freeing yourself, you may not necessarily have also succeeded in solving the case!
4. Grandfather’s Will: Among the most original escape rooms in Italy we find this one in Bologna. Its peculiarity is the character you will impersonate. Usually, you are the good guys trying to get out, instead, in this case, you will have to be criminals who have to escape, not because you are trapped, but because the police are coming and you could be arrested. In this room, you are looking for the will of wealthy businessman Gherardo Asinelli.
5. The Dentist: This is one of the most original escape rooms in Rimini. Here, players will travel aboard the spaceship Gravastar, which in addition to floating through space can also travel through time. Players will face very different challenges and puzzles, even in different eras but intertwined by one recurring character: the Dentist. Who knows what this eccentric character will want from you and how he may test you?
6. Lucy: This escape room is set in the future. Here you will be special agents in the service of Btrade, a very unusual multinational corporation where the board of directors is composed of vampires. What you have to do is to protect the protagonist of this escape, namely Lucy Gierach, from the day hunter who wants to kill her. What’s special about it is the continuous movie references within the story.
